Great question, the vaccinations needed depend upon the entry requirements destination state. So, when traveling between states and territories in the US, you must research the dog/cat entry requirements of the destination, for the requirements can vary. Please never assume that the requirements are the same in each US state. A prime example is Hawaii, because the requirements are very detailed. Non-compliance can lead to mandatory quarantining at the pet owner's expense.
In accordance with state law, all dogs/cats must be vaccinated against rabies and have a rabies vaccination certificate. States will vary on the minimal age to meet this requirement, for some say dogs/cats must be12 weeks of age or older to meet the requirements. When traveling interstate, all animals are to have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) or Health Certificate.
