Can you believe a decade has gone by since the grass-root campaign, Clear the Shelters, launched in August 2004 with the goal to clear all the shelters that signed up to be a part of this national effort?Galvanized by NBCUniversal and all of their affiliate stations and Partners, this program took on a life of its own as Pet Parents across the country lined up to save a soul (or two) and bring their new pet to their forever home.

The program started out with a day, then grew to a week and this year is an entire month as you can take part of this national campaign from August 10^th to September 10^th .Clear the Shelters reports, "Last year, over 150 NBC and Telemundo stations teamed up with 1,400-plus shelters and rescues located across 49 states and territories, including Puerto Rico and Guam. The 2023 campaign helped over 150,000 pets find homes while raising more than $575,000.'That 150,000 pets adopted in 2023 made the grand total of pets adopted reach 1Million Pets Adopted!
